DESCRIPTION:

The Plant Manager is responsible for the two facilities. Specifically the operation includes steel slitting, stamping and heat treating for the product laminations. The position provides direction for 25 salaried employees and over 200 hourly union associates. Specifically this leadership role is responsible for meeting operation requirements in the areas of delivery, quality, cost, safety and human capital development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initiate, define, plan, communicate and follow up the company’s strategic business/manufacturing objectives within the company’s operations to ensure Company profitability.
  • Passionately drive continuous improvement as well as lean initiatives to achieve breakthrough performance in quality, delivery, cost and growth.
  • Ensure key manufacturing metrics and key performance indicator systems are consistently tracking the appropriate measures and provoking appropriate response behavior.
  • Continuously evolve manufacturing efficiency as well as develop and implement programs to reduce cost by driving working capital improvements.
  • Lead, select, develop and motivate the local leadership team in order to optimize the Human Resource asset.
  • Build an outstanding team and evolve the organization structure as needed in order to meet and exceed objectives.
  • Work closely with the Purchasing function to advise and recommend strategy which optimizes return on Company’s products and raw materials.
  • Keep up to date in regard to the latest industry technical developments in regard to products and processes, and develop and implement changes that provide better service to customers and reduce costs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business or related technical with a MBA preferred.
  • 10 years progressive manufacturing operations leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of significant performance improvement. Some leadership experience in an union environment
  • Strong knowledge and experience with various manufacturing processes related to steel stamping, heat treating and slitting.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with lean and continuous improvement initiatives as well as their application to a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to motivate the organization’s human asset including selection, retention and development of high performers and instilling accountability throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Posses strong customer responsiveness and high sense of urgency
  • Strong leadership skills who sets high expectations for themselves and organization; driven by metrics and countermeasures.
  • Demonstrated ability for innovative thinking which targets breakthrough performance versus small incremental gain.
  • very resourceful, combining strong manufacturing and technical abilities with good overall management/financial acumen.
  • Team oriented and consensus based management style
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions and develop/implement actionable strategic plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a high energy level, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
