POSITION TITLE: DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
INDUSTRY: SERVICE/RESIDENCE AND SERVICES FOR DISABLED
LOCATION: JEFFERSON, WI
DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Development provides leadership and direction for all aspects of the development program including: corporate and foundation relations, direct Mail, special events, planned giving, major gift solicitation, legacy and bequests.
Supports the strategic planning process and may assist in developing the initiatives to achieve the overall mission and vision of the organization.
Participates in organizational committees and meetings as assigned.
Adheres to Company’s organizational or departmental policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Plans and coordinates benefit events.
· Develops public relations materials to enhance institution image and promote fund raising program.
· Organizes direct mail campaign to reach potential contributors.
· Researches public and private grant agencies, foundations, and corporations to identify sources of funding and submit grants to fund organizational initiatives.
· Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining records of contributors and grants, preparing letters of appreciation and special events. M
· maintains mailing list of potential donors.
· Plan and implement (annually) a comprehensive fundraising program to meet budget goals and organizational initiatives.
· Manages the annual development program and capital campaigns as appropriate.
· Maintain a major prospect portfolio; regularly contacts prospects identified through research and referrals.
· Recommends annual giving and campaign strategies to CEO, Executive and Management staff.
· Works with Board member and Executive staff to engage others as appropriate in fund raising activities (e.g. planned giving, major gifts, prospect research).
· Attend Company events and volunteer meetings, often during evenings and weekends; represent Company to external constituents; cultivates relationships to enhance and expand donor opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in related field plus 3-5 years of post related experience, or an equivalent combination of training or experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, and Blackbaud fundraising software, Internet and e-mail
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships.
- Ability to work as a team player and individually under tight timeframes and have the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
