POSITION TITLE: SR BUSINESS WAREHOUSE ANALYST

DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for technical performance of SAP business warehouse ODS, cubes and systems (web interface, portals) related to delivery of business intelligence to users. Plans, develops, coordinates, and tests maintenance activities for SAP BW with SAP Basis team. Responsible for quality control for new business intelligence designs. Researches, identifies, and applies new technology solutions to improve business intelligence delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

40% Technical Performance
Develops, monitors and publishes performance metrics for all BW production reports and cubes. Establishes baseline performance and improvement targets for ODS design, queries and data loads. Formulates, prioritizes, and implements performance improvement projects including development of aggregates, re-architecture of existing cubes, modification of load procedures, and overall improvement of business intelligence delivery systems. Identifies network and infrastructure issues impacting SAP BW performance and coordinates resolution with appropriate resources. Measures and reports on impact of performance enhancement projects. In collaboration with the SAP Basis team, design, implement and maintain a high-availability environment for SAP BW and related applications.

10% Project Leadership
Lead the analysis, design, construction, and implementation of new/redesigned BW/SEM cubes. Coordinate infrastructure and network improvements related to BW/SEM performance. Provide project management, resource coordination, estimates of time/cost requirements and communication. Develop detailed project plans, identify resource requirements and system dependencies, maintain schedules, and report on progress. Coordinate system activities with SAP Basis team, Process Leads, Business Warehouse Analysts, Network Analysts, external vendors, etc as necessary.

25% Maintenance and Testing
Plans, coordinates, and tests maintenance activities for SAP BW (OSS notes, LCP, Upgrades) with SAP Basis team. Responsible for executing system unit and integration testing of business warehouse cubes including, error resolution, and coordination of regression tests of associated business applications.

5% New Technology Applications
Researches new technology solutions to improve business intelligence delivery including, web technology (SAP Enterprise Portal, Javascript, XML, HTML), enterprise data warehousing, and database technology. Identifies opportunities for application of new technologies, authors “White Papers”, and develops prototype solutions where applicable to demonstrate potential applications and benefits. Promote and exploit existing SAP BW product features.

20% Training and documentation
Provide end user training on business warehouse system and tools. Create and maintain system, operations, and end user documentation. Create and maintain cube design and test documentation in accordance with standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS/BA in a business related discipline

Length of experience:
• A minimum of 5-7 years of business experience (finance, sales, ITS, marketing, manufacturing,…)
• A minimum of 5 years working with SAP BW and ABAP at a technical design and development level.

Specialized skills/technical knowledge:
• Experience with implementation and use of data warehousing applications for business reporting and analysis.
• Experience with OLAP reporting.
• Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)
• Experience with front end data warehouse access tools (i.e. Crystal Reports, Cognos)
• Experience with database modeling
• ABAP programming experience.
• Strong project management skills requiring organization of resources, project planning & managing project budget.
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Strong skills in writing accurate document specifications.

Specialized skills/technical knowledge:
• Functional understanding of processes within SAP R/3
• Functional understanding of SAP SCM, SEM, and CRM
• MBA preferred.
