Executive Edge Search Consulting
Companies

Q: What is the difference between Retained and Contingency recruiting?

A: Retained Search is a more committed process from both the Company and the Search Firm.  The company pays a retainer for the search process and exclusively works with the search firm until the successful completion of the search. Clients are assured exclusivity to candidates, candidates are qualified before clients see their information, and the Search firm sees the process through to final acceptance of an offer.

Contingency Search still offers commitment from our side.  The Company may use several recruiters to fill a position.  Contingency recruiters may present the same candidate to several companies at the same time.

Q: How is your Exclusive Contingency different than what other Contingency firms offer?

A: Our Exclusive Contingency Search is still a committed process from both parties.  We ask for a client commitment of 30 - 45 days.  We put the same amount of up-front research and recruiting effort into the search, exclusivity of candidates, and remain a part of the entire process.

Q: What kind of guarantee do you offer?

A: Below is our standard Guarantee for Contingeny Search.  It is 90 days.

This will change for a Retained Search to 1 year.

GUARANTEE: If an individual hired by Executive Edge is terminated or leaves employment within ninety (90) days after commencing employment, Executive Edge will actively recruit a suitable candidate at no additional cost, provided that we are notified in writing or e-mail within five (5) days of the employee’s termination.  This guarantee is not applicable if the service relationship is terminated because the position is eliminated or because of insufficient work for the candidate.

We do not offer guarantees for anyone hired while on an hourly contract assignment.

Q: What is your policy on recruiting out of client companies?

A: Please see our “Hands off Agreement” taken from our Recruiting Contract.

Hands off Agreement: Executive Edge guarantees that they will not recruit a candidate from “Client Company” for a period of 1 year after the end of the engagement, the signature of this contract or each subsequent engagement.

Q: Does your firm specialize in any one area?

A: No, we are a Generalist firm and have worked in many industries across all functional areas.  You can see a list of areas covered in the Services section of our website.

Q: What if you never worked specifically for a certain type of company or position?

A: The fun of being in a generalist environment is learning new industries and positions everyday.  Good recruiters will be able to learn a new industry, our client’s competitors and position specifications rather quickly and will give the search a fresh look.  Sometimes companies that claim to specialize in certain areas or industries recycle the same old research and candidates without looking at a new approach.

Q: What areas do you recruit in geographically?

A: We have clients across the nation and have filled a few positions internationally.  The bulk of our work is done by phone so we can recruit for companies in any state and recruit candidates from anywhere.

Q: What salary range do you typically recruit for?

A: We place candidates in Middle Management to Senior level positions with the average salary range between $65K and $175K.  The lowest salary we will recruit for is $50K.

Q: Your Pricing Structure states that you charge a percentage of the base salary exclusive of any bonuses, incentives, stocks or other benefits, how is that different than other firms?

A: Most Retained firms include the projected bonus potential the candidate can earn the first year to calculate the total compensation.  From this they will calculate your fee.  This could add several thousand of dollars to what you owe. Also be aware of charges for phone, dining, and research over and above what you will pay in fees.

We keep our overhead low, assume all the research costs and offer you the same or  better level of service.

Q: How long will it take after the start of an assignment before we will start to see candidates?

We will send you information on candidates as soon as they are fully phone screened and qualified.  Clients will usually see candidates within the first two weeks after the start of an assignment.

Q: What is your process on submitting candidates?

A: When we find a qualified interested candidate we set up a time for a thorough phone interview.  At this time we will uncover salary, relocation and personality fit issues (if any), go over all the technical “must haves” and determine if they will be a good fit for your organization.  If both the recruiter and candidate are interested in moving forward, we will submit their resume along with a summary of our phone interview.  The summary will include salary, relocation, and information not found in the resume.
